Concoction of Ramblings
Some people come up with slightly good (?) ideas when they are bored and I am (again) extremely bored with nothing better to do. I got exhausted from reading comments (“hate commentsâ€) of UP guys who got pissed off about my post so I thought I should think of something else and besides I never really have expressed my views on eristic topics like these.
So-called Meaning of Life
To start with, I really don’t know but for whatever weird reason, whenever I hear the question “What is the meaning of life?†I always whisper to myself “to be a millionaire.†I don’t know where I heard that “to-be-a-millionaireâ€-type-of-response from or why it’s been stuck in my head as my ready-made response, so don’t ask. But it could be because I belong to the lower socioeconomic class. But of course, it’s not my actual response to the question. I believe that the meaning of life depends largely on who we’re talking about. If it’s for species of life other than humans, I am inclined to say that life’s meaning would be reproduction per se. A year of Comparative Anatomy and Zoology courses at New Era University drilled that into my head— that all species exist to reproduce. However, since humans are deemed to be more intelligent (advanced), compared to other species, the meaning of life for us should be to somehow advance ourselves and have some sort of impact on the world, kind of I-will-make-a-difference-kind-of-thinking.
Abortion
Lest, I would sound anti-life, I would say that it’s entirely up to decisions and responsibilities of the parents themselves. If it’s something like teen pregnancy, and both parents feel a child would be too much of a hassle and the baby is still within the first trimester, I wouldn’t see much of a problem with that except for the fact that the teens decided to have sex and when they discovered about the fetus they would just dump it on one of dark streets in Manila. I don’t feel that there’s something wrong as long as the circumstances for having the abortion are alright. On the contrary, one of my college professors once told me that, “a small crumb of bread is still breadâ€.
Never Ending End-of- the-World Threat
It has been rumored that by December 2012, Earth will combust and burst and I don’t know what’s going to happen next…. No, I don’t believe that’s real. As far as I know there is no possible way yet to see what will befall in the future, so I don’t believe ancient civilizations hundreds of years ago could have predicted something as big as the end of the world on such a specific day. December 2012 is only about four years away, and if the world was going to end on that day I’m pretty sure scientists would have been able to spot some sort of glitch in nature that would lead into to it. Just like what one of Sheldon’s novel says, nothing lasts forever. I think just about everyone would agree with that.
This time, I hope I won’t be getting hate comments again. Not unless somebody would like to argue about the real meaning of life in the “true sense of the wordâ€.
ahhh.
a better and SENSIBLE post.
keep it up.
better stay on the right side.
OK.
All these are valid questions.. although I dont have fixed answers, I enjoyed reading your views.
Meaning of life – I had this answer from an elder I used to talk with… “Its what ever life means to you in a given moment”.
Your thoughts are in line with mine about Abortion- I would rather have each individual decide for themselves what is right for them than have a State/Nation/Moral authority dictate a perceived right.
End of the World – ok that is ticklish.. we cant predict what will happen the next moment in our lives but we know when the world will end? And then I see, the end for a caterpillar is the beginning for a butterfly.. so what is a real end and beginning?
Your thoughts about end of the world is rather provocative. I haven’t thought that end of the world could also mean beginning of something! Yes, that a comforting idea…
“a small crumb of bread is still breadâ€.
I like that.

@exuvia: There’s a truth on it, right?—–
It’s simple and it’s true.
Could we be justified by it we would split a hair in our favor.
