I’ve Met Some Strangers

I’m just done leafing through Micki Postorious’ Strangers on the Street. This book is more than just a fascinating and informative book that portrays a host of intriguing personalities for it is also a compilation of warnings to all of us about the dangers of trusting smooth-talking strangers. It might also be an additional eye-opener to the society itself on how we inadvertently hone a serial killer with our very own culture. In this book, Micki Pistorious also delves deeply into the motivations of the serial killer. Although her plausible narration and explanation of the underlying reason on why serial killers arise seem to be slightly unscientific, for they are more hinged on Freudian beliefs, they are still provocative assumptions. That is just my minor quibble about this book, anyway. But in general, I have felt that the author did a good job of making me, as a reader, well-acquainted with the facts. Well, it’s pretty rare to find books which tackles serial killings outside the US. So for those of you who like to go over true-crime stories set on different location, here is a comprehensive account of true-crime stories in South Africa.
