First PNP Film Fest
MAMANG PULIS — WATCH out, movie buffs.

The 1st PNP Film Festival will be shown from March 10 to12 at different SM movie houses to give way to young filmmakers’ works of art, said Police-Community Relations Group director Chief Supt. Nicanor A. Bartolome yesterday.
“This is one way our student filmmakers can contribute to regain the old glory of the police. They too are tired of films glorifying criminals and, in turn, made films showcasing the dysfunctions in the police force and the emergence of heroes,” Bartolome told the Journal Group.
He said the five digital film entries are ‘Gatilyo’ of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Sta. Mesa; ‘Vendetta’ from the University of Perpetual Help System in Laguna, ‘Police Line-Up’ from the New Era University in Quezon City, ‘Detektib’ from the Dr. Felimon Aguilar Memorial College in Las Piñas City and ‘Bro’ from the La Consolacion College in Manila.
‘Vendetta’ will be shown in SM Sta. Rosa City from 2 to 6 p.m. on March 10 while ‘Detektib’ will be shown at SM South Mall from 2 to 6 p.m., also on March 10. ‘Bro’ will be shown at the SM Sta. Mesa from 2 to 6 p.m. on March 11 while ‘Gatilyo’ will be screened at SM Sta. Mesa from 4 to 8 p.m. on March 12. ‘Police Line-Up’ will be shown at SM North Edsa from 6 to 10 p.m. on March 12.
‘Detektib’ was based on the life story of retired SPO2 Benjamin Javier of the Las Piñas City police. Javier, now 64, was named one of the Top 10 Outstanding Policemen of the Philippines for five times.
