Overpopulated Philippines
This video tackles the issue of overpopulation in the country. Again, This country is damn overpopulated already! And what makes this worse is that no one seems to consider this to be a serious problem. Overpopulation causes pollution, poverty, starvation, crimes, and what-have-you’s. Government has to conduct some program and tell the people the effects of overpopulation. Mother Nature does not need more babies so people should stop breeding!
This issue goes directly to religion. The Philippines is basically a Catholic country, and the Pope has decreed that any form of birth control is a sin. As a result of this situation, any mention of overpopulation or any attempt to make people to think about it will be viewed as blasphemy. As unfortunate as this may be, the situation will not change until the church wakes up and realizes that overpopulation and the problems that come with it are a greater evil than using condoms.
Just one man’s opinion. There is nothing inherently wrong with religion, but the unintended consequences are sometimes devastating.
You just hit the nail right on its head, Terry! Until Catholicism in the Philippines come to realize the drastic effects of overpopulation (poverty, unemployment, crimes, etc.), we would not be able to come up with an effective solution to curb its growth. For its role, the Catholic church should spend more time in every poor communities to witness exactly how bad it gets when there are just too many mouths to feed and there’s hardly enough resources for everyone.
Then comes the House Bill No. 5043, also called the RH or Reproductive Health Bill, which is probably the first bill to address the overpopulation problem of the Philippines. It requires the provision of sex education as well as reproductive health services to the general populace. While this response may be a bit delayed, and the RH Bill is not so popular on the controversy spectrum, it is still pertinent, as the bill has not yet been passed and it keeps on raising a bunch of controversies, especially from the Catholic church.
On a realistic point of view, ignoring the Catholic Church would be a stiff challenge for the government. RH Bill would just be junked soon.
Jane, wake up and look around you. Everywhere there are beggars, snatchers, neglected kids, etc. That is because resources are becoming scanty, And not only that, pollution is rampant… I hope you’re seeing the big picture. And please don’t be so stupid and pathetic with your shallow interpretation of “be fruitful and multiplyâ€.
jane: the meaning of what you’ve mention above that statement “be fruitful and multiply†is that you, we, as individual should seek fulfillment to ourselves..it’s not pertaining to multiplying sons and daughter..maka diyos ka nga pero hahayaan mu ba na masira ang kalikasan na gawa ng ating puong maykapal dahil sa massive increase of population and due to this kalapastangan ng mga tao ang kasunod kung di mu kinontrol ang populasyon..lalaganap ang krimen, prostitution, mga sakit sa lipunan na graft and corruption..lahat yan magkakasangay,.in this world it’s just a matter of survival of the fittest…sana baguhin mu ang pananaw mu sa buhay para kahit paano makatulong ka sa bansa…hehehehe
Well, all of you have your own points. The most important thing here is that we understand each other’s point and be realistic, at the same time, be faithful to God.
I don’t personally agree with every provision of the RH Bill because some of them contradicts the principles and values of the Bible, which is the ultimate law of the Philippines.
Overpopulation is not really ‘a cause’ of poverty because it does not follow with the economic status of every ‘overpopulated countries’. In fact, according to newstatesman.com, England ranked 17th in overpopulated countries. And as we all know, England is not a poor country.
“And ironically, maybe the answer to what we see as overpopulation lies not through reducing the number of people on the planet but by increasing their well-being.” – The documentary’s conclusion
be fruitful and multiply!
